In its weekly blog post, Bungie reminded PS5 players to upgrade their version of Destiny 2. According to the company, “a notable number” of PS5 players are still running the PS4 game, despite being eligible for a free upgrade to the current-gen version of Destiny 2.
Players can upgrade Destiny 2 from its PS4 to PS5 version at no additional cost. To do so, PS5 users need to open the game hub of Destiny 2 on the PlayStation Store. They can then select the upgrade offer and download the latest version of the game. Once the download is complete, players can launch the PS5 version of Destiny 2 and benefit from its additional features. As Destiny 2 is a fully-online game, players won’t lose any progress when they upgrade from the PS4 to the PS5 version of the game.
The PS5 version of Destiny 2 brings various improvements to the game. Compared to the PS4, the PS5 supports better resolution and framerate to improve the graphical quality of Destiny 2. The game runs at a native 4K resolution and 60 FPS, with an option to run at 120Hz with the PvP Crucible mode. Loading times are faster, allowing players to access the game in a few seconds. Destiny 2 also brings a Field of View slider feature on current-gen consoles and PC that is missing from the PS4.
Besides reminding players to upgrade their version of Destiny 2, Bungie shared additional insight into the future of the game in its latest blog post. The developer is currently working on Destiny 2’s Season 19, set to release on December 6, 2022. The next expansion, Lightfall, will launch on February 28, 2023.
Destiny 2 is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
