Announced on February 3, Jurassic League is going to be a six-part series in which the main Justice League cast are transformed into dinosaurs. The premise is simple, but amazing, and is just absurd enough to bring in a whole new crowd of casual comic readers. In fact, this premise is so intriguing that a video game adaptation could have the potential to be a unique, incredible experience.

Explaining the Upcoming Jurassic League Comic
Co-written by Daniel Warren Johnson and Juan Gedeon, Jurassic League’s six-part run begins on May 10, 2022, and will continue with a monthly release schedule. Jurassic League is set to be a limited series, so fans may have to say a quick goodbye to the prehistoric line-up at the end of the year.
Jurassic League has come from one very simple idea. In the words of Daniel Warren Johnson himself, “I dig the Justice League, but I dig them more as dinosaurs.” It’s hard to disagree, looking at the promotional images shared by DC following the comic’s announcement, as these character designs are wonderfully creative.
Each Justice League member has been given a dinosaur that best represents their personality and character. Superman, for instance, is presented as a Brachiosaurus, a wise, calm, but strong herbivore. Wonder Woman is an athletic triceratops, and Batman is an Allosaurus, a vicious carnivore whose horns resemble Batman’s cowl when a piece of material is stretched over it. Joker is also making an appearance in Jurassic League, being presented as a Dilophosaurus, best known for their role in the first Jurassic Park where they ambush Nedry in his jeep.
A Jurassic League Game Has a Lot of Potential
Though the comic isn’t out yet, the concept of Jurassic League alone is enough to warrant a video game based on it. Comic readers are always looking for the next big DC video game experience, and a Jurassic League game would certainly stand out from the crowd of other superhero video games.
Players could take control of one of the prehistoric Justice League members, stomping around an ancient Metropolis or Gotham-like Wasteland. Each character would still retain their powers, but would be able to use their new dinosaur body to aid their fighting styles.
Games that allow players to assume the role of a dinosaur are pretty uncommon, with only a few Indie titles on Steam really giving it a go in the last few years, so a Jurassic League game would offer a unique gameplay style inherently. A game that offered lumbering dinosaur combat mixed with satisfying superhero abilities could be one of the most unique games ever made.
The story of the game could follow the general arc of the comic, or at least what fans know the arc to be right now, where the prehistoric Justice League must overcome their species differences to defeat Darkseid and his invading force. The premise of Jurassic League is poised perfectly for absurd comedy and tongue-in-cheek humor, and could really fill out a niche in the video game market that most didn’t even know existed.
