That being said, it remains that Fallout 4 originally released in 2015 and will soon begin running out of steam despite its commendable continued popularity. Due to this, it would be sensible for Bethesda to explore other ways in which fans can experience fresh perspectives relating to the title, and a detective-style spin-off featuring the fan favorite companion Nick Valentine could be the perfect way to do so.

The Basics of Fallout 4
Fallout 4 sees players explore the vast and expansive nuclear wastelands of the Commonwealth, an area that encompasses most of the pre-war state of Massachusetts. With a huge array of different areas being available for exploration, it is no wonder that the title became as successful as it has over the years, due to how it fosters such a comprehensive level of replayability.
With the player navigating the lethal flora and fauna of this untamed wasteland, Fallout 4 offers lots in the depth of the environments that it portrays while maintaining the same RPG elements that have made the franchise so popular. As well as maintaining these past features, Fallout 4 set itself apart from other installments by introducing huge new game mechanics such as settlement building, which will likely become a staple of the franchise moving forward.
Akin to its predecessor Fallout 3, Fallout 4 boasts a litany of NPC followers that the player can recruit, known as companions. These companions add a fantastic world building element to the game, offering help in combat and inventory storage while also forming relationships with the player character over time. Of the many companions that featured in Fallout 4, it is undeniable that the character of Nick Valentine was one of the most beloved and memorable.
A Fallout 4 Nick Valentine Spinoff
Nick Valentine is a synthetic private detective in Fallout 4, with “synths” being forms of humanoid androids that are the subject of intense stigma and discrimination within the Fallout world. Residing in the seedy Diamond City, Valentine befriends the Sole Survivor protagonist of Fallout 4 on their quest to find their missing son, and subsequently becomes a key companion that can be selected.
Fans immediately took to Valentine, with his good moral standing and mysterious past only being heightened by the obvious inspiration that the character received from noir detective media. With the aging Fallout 4 running out of points of discourse for fans, spin-off titles regarding the game would be a very popular decision by Bethesda, should they be made. In this line of thinking, a spin-off starring Nick Valentine that leans into his nature as a gritty detective will surely be well received by fans.
The genre and core gameplay of this spin-off title could be entirely removed from the standard Fallout open-world RPG formula, giving more variation to the franchise akin to the popular MMO Fallout 76. This kind of spin-off could give more context and lore as to the memories of the real Nick Valentine that were imbued into the synth body, while also offering a more narrative-focused portrayal of the Fallout universe.
Given the already good standing that the character of Nick Valentine holds within the Fallout community, a game starring the companion is sure to generate significant hype and traction if it were to be made. With Fallout 4 being in desperate contemporary need of new content, a slower paced Valentine title could tell a near endless amount of new tales in the Commonwealth, and further establish the success of Fallout 4.
Fallout 4 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions in development.
