Fans have had reason to expect a Control 2 reveal for some time, since Remedy has stated that it’s working on two new games in the Control universe, but so far, information has been scarce since both games were in early development at the time. However, a lot of time has passed since then, and although the Control sequel may not be ready to release just yet, Remedy could at least reveal it to fans. There’s no better platform for doing so than the 505 Games showcase. No matter how much content Remedy has to reveal, an official Control 2 announcement is just what the showcase needs.

Control in the 505 Games Showcase

While their means of announcement implied that the Control games are far from completion, Remedy Entertainment could still offer fans a taste of what’s to come at the 505 Games showcase. A gameplay reveal probably isn’t on the cards just yet, but fans could still get treated to a cinematic Control 2 trailer that provides some information about the game’s story, new characters, abilities that Jesse will gain, and so on. Even a short teaser trailer with a hint of a release window would be enough to excite fans; Alan Wake 2 achieved as much with its own cryptic announcement trailer.

505 Games definitely has good reason to include Control 2 in the showcase if possible. It may already be connected to a lot of successful games, but the Control franchise is blossoming right now, thanks to its extremely strong reception and growing connections to Alan Wake. 505 has found an excellent new partner in Remedy, and it would be wise to tout that partnership by giving center stage to whatever Control content Remedy has prepared. Enthusiastic support from 505 Games is crucial to ensuring Control’s rapid expansion pays off.

Control’s Development Status

If fans get lucky, the showcase could include two reveals: one for the Control sequel, and one for the multiplayer Control spinoff. This seems a little unlikely, of course, given how busy Remedy Entertainment is right now. Aside from Control and Alan Wake, it has also picked the Max Payne franchise back up, meaning it has a lot on its plate. Maybe Remedy’s recent Max Payne announcement is a sign that Control 2 is already making good progress, however, since Remedy can spare resources for two Max Payne remakes. Remedy should be careful not to spread itself too thin; hopefully its willingness to take on so many projects is based on careful planning rather than pure ambition.

Fans don’t have to wait long to see what 505 has in store; the showcase will take place on May 17th. This is 505 Games’ first digital showcase of its kind, which is a big step forward for the publisher. Since E3 2022 has been canceled, many developers and publishers will likely need to arrange showcases like this one. 505 Games is only one of many companies taking advertising into its own hands in the wake of E3’s cancellation. Whether Control is there or not, the 505 Games showcase has a lot of potential. The more announcements 505 can muster, the more significant its first digital showcase will be.
